Segmented Ultralight Morphing Rotor

Segmented Ultralight Morphing Rotor (SUMR) is an ARPA-e funded project to explore the concept of two bladed downwind highly coned rotor. The primary role at UT Dallas is to develop the blade structures for these highly innovative rotors in compliance to industrial standards like IEC61400 and Germanischer-Lloyd (GL) Design Standard. Additionally, research is carried out for blade cost reduction, segmentation and dynamic instabilities like flutter.
